Pasture-raised Poultry and Natural Products

OUR STORY

Thank you for checking out our site.  Our names are Mindy, Andy, Carter, and James (MACJ).  Our farming adventure began about 10 years ago.  We currently live in a small, rural community in west central Indiana.  Neither one of us grew up raising livestock, but we were intrigued by the idea once we acquired our current property.

We started small with just six laying hens.  We looked forward to having fresh eggs daily while teaching our boys where their food comes.  We couldn’t believe the difference in the taste of “Fresh”, Pasture Raised eggs.  With the knowledge of how much better these eggs tasted we began to venture out to other animals.  We now raise Meat Chickens, Laying Hens, Hogs, Steers, Meat and Dairy Goats, all on pasture.  The way animals were intended to be fed.  We have decided to expand our venture to help people experience the taste and quality of Farm Fresh, Pasture Raised Food!  The animals on our farm are given the absolute best quality of life while on are Farm.  They are pasture raised and free from antibiotics and growth hormones.  We look forward to sharing our quality meat with you!

PASTURED POULTRY

When the chicks arrive on our farm, they are 1 or two days old.  They are cute as a button!!

They are put in the brooder house where they are monitored very closely for the first few days.  We make sure the temperature in the brooder stays between 90-95 degrees for the first week.  The Chicks like it warm!  The temperature is then slowly lowered over the next two weeks until it is at the outside air temperature.  We monitor the weather very closely during their 3rd week.  At the end of the 3rd week, they are moved out to pasture.  They are placed in a chicken tractor that is on grass.  The chicken tractor is moved daily so they are on fresh grass/pasture every day.  They are very excited in the morning as we move them onto the new grass.  They can’t wait to peck and scratch the grass like a chicken is supposed to.  These chickens grow extremely fast and are ready for butcher in just about 8 weeks.  These chickens will have so much more flavor and juice in the meat from being raised on Pasture.

CHICKEN EGGS

Our ISA Brown Chickens live outside with plenty of access to Sunshine.  They spend their days pecking and scratching the ground for bugs.  This causes them to have a much brighter yolk.  Their eggs are collected daily.  These are sold by the dozen.
